Orry Hunte – Your Instructor

Orry Hunte is a multiple karting champion of the Barbados Karting Association (BKA) and the Lead Instructor of Bushy Park Barbados since 2014.

More About Orry

Son of Don Hunte, an accomplished Barbadian engineer and veteran of 1970s Bushy Park, Orry’s first racing machine was a fun kart given to him by a close family friend in St Vincent. With his first racing kart three years later, he started to win Barbados Karting Association (BKA) titles, eight at the last count!

He first raced overseas when only 12 – and not much taller than 5ft – at Mosport Kart Club in Canada, where he proved his talents quickly; on the first weekend, he qualified second to the local champion despite a lack of track experience, then lapped within half-a-second of the race-winner the following weekend, climbing from 25th on the grid to finish 12th… in the rain!

Having then travelled to Trinidad and Jamaica, he was ready when approached to apply for the Richard Petty Driver Search in 2010. Orry says: “This four-day training camp focussed on the complete skill set that defines today’s successful driver – car control, endurance, track management, race practices and mechanical knowledge, along with communication and marketability.”

After three seasons racing in the US, gaining invaluable knowledge along the way, Orry returned to Barbados, where he briefly picked up his kart-racing career, before joining our new team to oversee the Radicals and share his wealth of experience with patrons of the Radical Driving Experiences.

Career highlights
2014 – returned to Barbados, winning BKA Shifter Class races on his debut at the redeveloped Bushy Park… and got offered a job!
